Yoga Nidra, also known as "Yoga Sleep"
Yoga Nidra is a practice of deep relaxation. The benefits are relaxation for health, rejuvenation of energy, healing and mental peace. The practice is done while comfortably lying on your back with the support of blankets as the teacher softly guides you to touch your awareness through your whole body. It is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 3 hours of deep sleep.
Each Kundalini yoga class places equal emphasis on breathing exercises, movement, meditation, and chanting to relax and heal the mind, body and soul. Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, PsHD, is a technology designed to awaken and expand internal awareness and to invoke an experience of calmness, happiness and freedom of spirit. Kundalini yoga teaches you how to gain a strong immune system, vital glands, a strong nervous system, good circulation, and an awareness of the impact of your habits. All levels welcome.
Hatha Flow class is suitable for all bodies, beginners or the practitioner who is looking for a classic yoga class. Hatha flow is a meditative class that focuses on yogic breathing, a balanced sequence of standing yoga warrior postures, balancing poses and the stretchy floor poses with emphasis on alignment. Blankets and props are encouraged.
Hatha Flow borrows poses from the traditional Vinyasa flow practice, but differs from Vinyasa in that is uses fewer poses and allows the student to spend more time exploring each posture, rather than more quickly moving from one to another.
Bring a water bottle and hand towel.
Yin Yoga is healing, relaxing and meditative. The practice restores energy, nourishes the fluids in the joints, strengthens the immune system, promotes deeper sleep, calms the mind and is therapeutic for organ health. Yin is done primarily on the floor or at the wall while the body is supported with blankets and props. This practice focuses on relaxing the muscles, keeping the body still and engaging in slow rhythmic breathing. As the muscle groups soften and remain stretched for 3 to 5 minutes, the body’s energy flows more freely through the facia and energy channels supporting pliancy and natural range of motion in all the joints. Yin Yoga is for everyone. Incorporating a Yin practice 1 or 2 times a week teaches the body how to relax in a fast pace world. Come experience the wonderful benefits of Yin Yoga.
Aroma-Bliss Yoga is a restorative yoga practice and pure therapeutic essential oils. All bodies welcome! Essential oils have many of the same wonderful benefits as yoga – reduces stress and tension by calming the body and quieting the mind which allows for powerful healing and enhanced overall well-being. When we use nature to nurture ourselves, it helps us remember the essence of who we are and where we come from. Breathe, stretch and move into a greater awareness of body, mind and spirit with this wonderful synergy.

Monica Biery is a momma of three, two teenaged sons and an eight year old daughter and considers her vocation as a mother to be the most important, most amazing and the most difficult of all. Often times being a new momma in our culture can be very isolating. The purpose of this group is to bring new mommas together to learn from each other, to gain encouragement, insight and information and to love and support one another through this beautiful and precious yet sometimes scary and vulnerable time of life.
Monica believes that babies and children should be loved and respected and that parenting approaches should foster bonding, love and trust. The topics of conversation that will be covered are endless. We will respectfully discuss food choices, sleep choices, baby wearing, baby gadgets, mother-in-loves, self-care, ways to identify and meet mommas’ needs as well as the needs of our babies and so much more. With all of the technology and our ever changing world, we are in new territory and it can sometimes be challenging to parent our little ones. It is Monica’s desire to provide a loving atmosphere where she can support mommas to trust their motherly instincts and intuitive parenting choices that may sometimes be considered against the “norm” of our culture.
All mommas and babies are welcome in the Yoga Shala Mommas' circle.
