In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.
The third chakra is called Manipura, which means “lustrous gem.” Located around the navel in the area of the solar plexus, it is a source of personal power that governs self-esteem, ambition, clear intention setting, fierce warrior energy, and the power of self-transformation.
Signs of a balanced third chakra: Self-confidence, healthy boundary setting, self-driven.
Signs of an imbalanced third chakra: Lethargy, indecisiveness, quick to anger, lack of clear intention setting.
Poses that will empower your solar plexus energy center: Boat pose fires up your midsection, invoking power, strength, and perseverance. Chair pose awakens the physical strength of your mid and lower body by engaging the core, thighs, and glutes. Warrior 1 and 2 emboldens your warrior energy; engages the midsection, stabilizes the pelvis, strengthens the legs, and directs your focus forward.
