In a fast-paced world that can be overly stimulating, overwhelming, and maybe at times, a little scary to navigate, it is imperative for kids to know that they have a safe place that they can always connect to at anytime, anywhere, and know that this place is always within themselves.
Yoga brings attention to this through free-flowing movement of their bodies and learning how being aware of their breath can be a magical tool when they feel anxious, scared, angry, or sad.
When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment, they are able to meet life's challenges and stresses with more ease because they know that they can always go within themselves when they need a little break. Yoga encourages self-esteem and body awareness with physical activity that's fun and explorative, rather than competitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion, instead of opposition, is another great tool that children can learn through the yoga movements and breath awareness. Children derive enormous physical and mental benefits from doing yoga: it enhances their flexibility, strength, and coordination, as well as their ability to concentrate and relax.
