Inviting the Moon: Restorative Yoga & Massage

  • Yoga Shala Sacramento 2030 H Street Sacramento, CA, 95811 United States (map)

with Catherine La O'

Are you burnt out and waking up feeling drained and tired no matter how much sleep you get? It’s likely your nervous system is stuck in fight/flight mode and hasn’t been given the chance to properly recover. This is not uncommon for us Westerners who are hyper-focused on productivity. We wear “busy” like a badge of honor and shame ourselves for any behavior that appears “lazy”. We mistake face-planting our pillow at the end of a long day for rest. But that is not rest, it’s exhaustion. One is about depletion, while the other is about restoring.

The physiological benefits that happen during rest don’t work as well when you’re depleted, which means true rest doesn’t happen until the exhaustion is dealt with. The way you do that is by consistently practicing rest. Scheduling time to be quiet and calm. Not waiting until your system is bankrupt to do it.

Restorative Yoga is an opportunity to practice rest. There is little to no movement in this class. Students are invited to settle into reclined postures (usually 3-4 poses within a class period) using the support of props for long-hold times (anywhere from 5-25 minutes). You will be guided through fundamental breath awareness (pranayama) and meditation (presence) to foster a gradual and deep release of physical, emotional, and mental tensions. The benefits of Restorative Yoga are cumulative and profound.

Catherine la O’ has been teaching RestorativeYoga for over 10 years, a devoted practitioner for 23 years, and will be your guide during this special Restorative Yoga workshop: “Inviting the Moon”.

In her trademark style, she invites you into the next level of tension-release by including hands-on-massage from therapists, Jessi Brooks and Sean O’Shea, and the soothing sound of live mantra sung by the soulful, Jeanne Munoz.

This is a class you will want to experience. Trust us.

Inviting the Moon is a gift to your nervous system and includes:

  • 2-hours of Restorative Yoga postures

  • Guided meditation

  • Hand-on-touch massage

  • Live mantra

$65

Thanks Catherine! I really enjoyed the class and hope to join others in the future. Sean was awesome! It felt like he knew exactly what I needed to increase my level of relaxation during the class.

I am so so thankful to you for this Inviting the Moon class. It was so very special. It feels amazing to be cared for so deeply in so many ways. All the love and warmth and touch and the beautiful sounds! Her singing! I don’t have words, really. Thank you.

Another amazing evening with 4 incredible [people]. The combination of [team members] allows a safe and transformative experience where one doesn’t realize the actual stress one holds- until you relax into the guided restorative poses, healing hands, and enchanting singing. Of course, I’ll be back!

It was a wonderful meditative evening of simple, restive poses, relaxation (ahh the massage) and a sound bath of background singing. I was happily surprised by how much massage I received and by how much Jeanne’s beautiful voice graced the practice. Truly lovely!
