Remember when you learned to ride a bike? Chances are, you started with training wheels or a balance bike. Learning to balance can be tricky, especially for adults, and in most vinyasa classes there is just not enough time to break down the more complicated poses. And, face it, falling is scary! Because of this, many of us never even try!
Many arm balances are surprisingly attainable for most of us, once we know the tricks. It’s not all about strength, but learning how to adjust your center of gravity to find your balance.
In this 2-hour introduction to arm balances, we will explore the use of props to help support your body while discovering the “tipping point” that will allow you understand the physics of the poses. We’ll stay close to the ground to let you safely build the confidence required to practice arm balances during class - or on your own!
What we WON’T do:
Headstands, handstands, or partner poses.
What we WILL do:
Practice low-to-the-ground arm balances, learn the use of props, and have fun!
