with Carlos Pomeda
The Shala is very honored to host world renown Yogi & Scholar, Carlos Pomeda for an inspiring weekend of dharma, contemplation, reflection, and intelligent instruction into mindfulness, spirituality, walking the yoga path, and turning concept into reality through practice.
Friday evening: Exploring the Origins of Yoga
Learning about the origins of yoga is not a mere academic exercise— it can actually be a major catalyst in how we relate to its practices and how we integrate them into our lives. In this ground-breaking workshop (no exaggeration) we will take a critical look at some of the popular notions in vogue. We will then present little-known evidence that will help us refine our understanding. The ultimate purpose of this exploration is to gain insight into the innermost nature of yoga, so we can bring our practice in line with its original purpose.
Saturday: A Fascinating Journey through Time & Space: The Yoga Vāsistha
In order to make progress (in any field) we need to move beyond our current level of knowledge and experience. That is exactly what this classic of yoga wisdom, The Yoga Vāsistha, does: Do you think you have some understanding about the nature of reality? This text might well blow your mind (literally!) Do you think you know what makes you tick? Get ready to be awakened. Do you think you know how to go about your yoga and meditation practice? Get ready for a surprise. In a fun format, working with the amazing stories this text presents us, this workshop will guide us from the highest perspective, into the blazing revelation of Absolute Non-duality, the Heart of Experience. If you are ready to refresh your practice and enjoy a friendly challenge, this workshop is for you.
When: 2 sessions from 11:30am- 2:00pm & 3:30-6:00pm (break from 2-3:30pm)
Sunday: Integrating Yoga into Daily Life
One of the wonderful challenges of yoga practice is how to integrate it with the rest of our lives—how do we make our entire life into a yoga practice, so we can grow in self-awareness and fulfilment? This workshop explores the inner dynamics of the journey and provides helpful, practical guidance to do just that.
